Wigston A.S. Middy Teams of Four Winter League - Sun 28th March GUC 52 pegs
Much improved weather provided consistent sport for the final round of the Wigston A.S. Middy Teams of Four Winter League.
Spro Red Arc won the day with 43 pts ahead of Notts AA on 40 pts, Wigston A.S. Red third on 39pts and Oadby Angling A on 35 pts.
Despite slipping to fourth overall on the day, there was no stopping Oadby Angling 'A' winning the overall league title with 11pts. Leicester Sensas Gold took the runner-up spot on 17pts ahead of their Silver team who were third on 20pts and Spro Red Arc, fourth on 22pts..
Individually the final match was won by Steve Gardner (Might Catch) with 6lb 7oz net of roach, rudd and skimmers to bread punch and caster from the Kilby Bridge section.
Runner-up Mark Roberts (Oadby Angling A) weighed 6lb 5oz, ahead of third placed Ron Scales (Notts AA) with a level 6lb and Adam Nurse (Spro Red Arc) fourth on 5lb 6oz.
Mark Roberts was also top individual angler in the league on 58pts ahead of Adam Nurse and Pete Jayes both on 57pts.

Wigston A.S. Leicester Canal Champs - Sun 21st March, Kilby Bridge
The improved warm weather provided more consistant sport than of late for anglers fishing this years Leicester Canal Champs on the Grand Union Canal at Kilby Bridge.
Notts AA angler, Johnny Johnson netted a winning 8lb 2oz catch of skimmers, roach and rudd. Pegged at the basin he fished pinkie over groundbait at 9m and 11m all match to take the Ivan Marks Trophy.
Second placed Adam Nurse (Wigston A.S.) weighed a level 7lb of roach, skimmers and gudgeon from the boat moorings just down stream from Kilby Bridge.
Third place, Steve Warner (Team in-Harmony) also fished groundbait, maggot and caster to take a mixed net of roach and skimmers for 6lb 4 1/2oz

Wigston A.S. Teams of Four – Round 5 GUC Leicester (52 pegs)
Leicester Sensas Silver put in a strong performance to take the 5th round of the Wigston A.S. ‘Middy’ Team challenge and with league leaders Oadby Angling A slipping to joint 5th on the day, its all down to the last match with just 4 pts separating them and Leicester Sensas Gold who were 3rd on the day.
On a cold and blustery day, anglers who were afforded some shelter from the wind scored well and out in front was Wigston A.S. Red angler Wayne Hammond with a well deserved 9lb 21/2oz.
Drawn at the Kilby Bridge section, Wayne caught quality roach on hemp up to the far side reeds.
In second place was Andy Curless (Spro Blue Arc) who included over 200 small rudd and roach in his 8lb 5oz net taken from the Westminster Drive section.
Third placed, Pete Jayes (Oadby Angling A) included a few skimmers in his 7lb 13oz net taken from the County Arms basin.

Round 4 Sun 28th February (52 Pegs)
With last weeks match cancelled due to snow and the fish still shoaled-up in certain areas, it was always going to be a tough match for many on the 52 competitors on the fourth round of the Wigston A.S. Middy Team Challenge.
Leicester Sensas Gold put in a strong team performance to take the team honours on the day with 38 pts ahead of league leaders Oadby Angling ‘A’ on 34pts, Leicester Sensas Silver on 31pts and Spro Red Arc on 23pts.
The Leicester Sensas Gold team also produced the individual winner with Pete Marlow weighing a superb 13lb 12oz.
Pegged at the ‘Manor’ stretch near Glen Parva, the 28 year old from Barrow upon Soar fished caster on a 4m whip to catch small roach and rudd steadily all match.
Second placed Tom Pringle (Oadby Angling ‘A’) caught eight skimmers on bread punch at 14 meters in the basin at the County Arms section to weigh 9lb 8oz.
Third placed Joff Woodgett (Leicester Sensas Silver) weighed 6lb 15oz of roach taken on bread punch to pip Pete Jayes (Oadby Angling ‘A’) on 6lb 8oz.

Wigston A.S. 'Middy' Teams of Four Winter League - Round 3 Sun 14th Feb 2010 Grand Union Canal (52 pegs)
Round 3 of the Wigston A.S. ‘Middy’ Teams of Four Winter League was a struggle for most competitors with the fish still tightly shoaled in pockets.
The top 5 anglers all benefited from a change in the pegging to the previous two rounds with Pat Wood (Match Catch) leading the way with a level 14lb. Pat drew the noted ‘Basin’ at Kilby Bridge and made no mistake, netting 5 bream on pole-fished caster.
Second placed, Richie Reynolds (Oadby Angling ‘B) was also at Kilby and netted six quality perch on chopped worm for 11lb 3oz.
Third placed, Steve Warner (Oadby Angling ‘B’) drew another basin peg, but this time at the County Arms section for 8lb 11oz which included 2 chub.
